We head north to Stirling and the towering Wallace Monument with stunning views of the Castle. We enter the Highlands heading through wild Rannoch Moor and Glencoe and on to the fishing port of Oban.

Day 2:

Take the steam train from Fort William crossing the Glenfinnan viaduct featured in the Harry Potter movies or travel the equally impressive 'Road to the Isles'. We take the ferry to Skye where we can explore Armadale Castle and Gardens, former home of the MacDonalds, before driving north to our overnight destination.

Day 3:

We explore more of the mysterious Isle of Skye with its awe-inspiring mountains, stunning coastline, myths and legends before returning to the mainland. On the way to Loch Ness we stop at the incedibly photogenic Eilean Donan Castle and wind our way along the Great Glen to Inverness, the Capital of the Highlands.

Day 4:

Hunt for the elusive monster with a cruise on Loch Ness before turning northward and the stunning beauty of the north west Highlands. We take in the beautiful town of Beauly with its Priory dating back to 1230, then it's into the rugged and isolated mountains that secure Scotland's place as one of the last great wilderness in Europe.

Day 5:

We explore Culloden Battlefield, scene of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s defeat back in 1746 then the mysterious chamber cairns of Clava Cairns; which inspired the hit TV series Outlander.  We turn southward to try the 'water of life' at Tomatin Whisky Distillery then on to the Highland Folk Museum before visiting Dunkeld with its mighty cathedral, on our wat back to Edinburgh.
