Day 1

Arrival Bangkok

An airport arrival transfer is included in this trip if booked 14 days prior to arrival. Please ensure you advise your agent of your flight details. Arrival transfers cannot be arranged on arrival into the airport. If you plan to arrive earlier, this arrival transfer can only be offered in conjunction with pre-tour accommodation booked through PEAK.
Bangkok is a fast paced and fascinating city that has something for everyone and our well located hotel places you right in the middle of the action! Check in is available from 2.00pm, however if you arrive earlier you can arrange for your luggage to be stored until your room is ready. There are no activities arranged for today, so why not grab a map from hotel reception and explore the local area which is packed with temples, street stalls, shopping and restaurants. Get stuck into the traveller`s favourite `pad thai` (fried noodles) from a local street vendor located just outside of your hotel, or experience a traditional Thai massage. There`s plenty to keep you

Day 2

Bangkok City Tour/ Overnight train

Today you will be picked up between 0800 – 0800am
Kick start the day with a walk to the banks of the Chao Phraya River and board a longtail boat to discover the city`s khlongs. Next up is a guided tour of Wat Pho to see the huge reclining Buddha. The temple is the centre of the Buddhist religion in Thailand and regarded as the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. The final place to tick off on the sightseeing list is the ornate Grand Palace. More than 220 years old, the palace has served as the official residence of the king and the seat of government but is now a place of reverence for Thais and a popular attraction for visitors. Enjoy a guided tour of the palace grounds, including Wat Phra Kaew, which houses the Emerald Buddha. Afterwards, return to the hotel to relax or spend more time exploring the area.
Board an overnight train bound for Chiang Mai (approx 12 hrs). We use soft sleeper class trains for all of our overnight train journeys. Multishare compartments with air-conditioning and bunk beds - sheets and a pillow are provided. Our baggage travels in the carriage with us. There`s a food and drink service available on board.

Day 3

Arrival Chinag Mai/ Guided bike ride

Your train is scheduled to arrive in Chiang Mai in the early morning. You will be met with your driver then transfer to your hotel.
The most vibrant city in northern Thailand, Chiang Mai has many famous temples and an interesting old city area. This `Rose of the North` is also known for its beauty and the friendliness of the local people.
At about 1.30pm we have a safety briefing and bicycle fitting, before heading out into the streets of Chiang
Mai. We journey south, following the Ping River downstream. The bicycle ride is pleasant and green due to the proximity of the river. A visit to a former leper colony, now a rehabilitation centre, gives some insight into the activities of the missionaries in days gone by. Cycling over small country roads you will discover the real rural Thailand. We cycle past various fruit orchards and encounter the Thai way of life as we meander around the villages on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. We explore the temple ruins of Wiang Kum Kam, the former capital of Lanna, before cycling back to Chiang Mai.
The biking distance is around 25-30km of flat ground with 1.5km unsealed road (approx 4 ½ hours with frequent stops). We provide helmet and comfort bicycles (adapted mountain bike), with 24 gears and front suspension.

Day 4

Hiking & Rafting
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch
You are picked up from the hotel after breakfast between 8.00-8.30am We drive up north to Mae Tang area where your adventure begins. Mountain biking through scenic landscape and local roads approximately 8 kilometers to the starting point of the trek to waterfall. Then hike to Huay Sathan Waterfall, where we can relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. (1.30 -2 hours). After finishing the trekking loop, we will drive up to the river camp.
In the afternoon prepare for a thrilling whitewater rafting session. Our staff will help outfit you with helmets and life jackets. There will also be a safety brief to get you acquainted with the paddling commands, the correct way to sit in the raft, and the necessary precautions on river safety. Awaiting you are the rapid Mae Taeng River and its 14 gorges along a 10km stretch. The difficulty level on Mae Taeng River ranges from grade 3 to 5. It has been praised by tourists as some of the best whitewater rafting in Asia. The rafting trip takes approximately 2 hours and finishes at our downstream camp where you can rest and change into dry clothes. Enjoy some hot and cold drinks or fresh fruits before the transfer back to your hotel in Chiang Mai.
