Day 1: New York Area - Niagara Falls

You're in the 'Big Apple' so why not stay a couple of nights before the tour departs and explore this iconic city? Visit Lady Liberty or take a stroll through the beautiful Central Park, there's something for everyone here. As your tour departs, it's time to leave city life behind and make your way across New York state to Niagara for an illuminated view of the Falls.

Day 2: Niagara Falls - Lake Erie

Niagara Falls is three waterfalls all rolled into one, so you can only imagine how epic it'll be to witness this natural wonder with your own two eyes. Get as close as you dare to the booming cascades of Niagara Falls on an optional ‘Maid of the Mist' cruise – just be prepared to get a little wet! As you make your way past the shores of Lake Erie, one of the five Great Lakes of North America, why not visit Cedar Point Amusement Park to ride the tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster in the world?Please note: Cedar Point in Ohio is open all of June, July and August and on certain days during May, September and October. It may not always be possible to visit Cedar Point Amusement park.

Day 3-4: Chicago

In Chicago, you can soar up to the top of the Willis Tower for dizzying views over the ‘Windy City’, or trawl the upmarket malls of Magnificent Mile, before taking to pedal power on an optional 'Bobby's Bike Hike' tour. It’s a great way to see the city guided by a local. Chill out by Lake Michigan and take in the laid-back city vibes, then grab yourself a slice of Chicago's famous deep-dish pizza, you deserve it! Chicago is also home to some of the greatest blues music in America, so be sure to check out the local clubs.

Day 5: Minnesota

Some of the greatest things about an all-American road trip are the quirky roadside attractions you come across, so say a big howdy to the Jolly Green Giant statue in Blue Earth. Head out across the great prairies of America's original western frontier, where resident coyotes utter the occasional howl as you settle down for some shut-eye under canvas.

Day 6: Badlands National Park

Travel to 1880’s Town and experience a replica of an old west town in all its gun slinging, saloon swinging, lawless (not really) glory. Not quite Westworld, but immersive enough to get dressed up and channel your inner Buffalo Bill. Admire the historically correct buildings and authentic relics that have been collected over time. Then it’s into the Badlands for you. Touching down here feels more like a moon landing due to the bizarre lunar landscape of low-slung buttes, chiselled spires and saw tooth ridges. The rugged beauty draws people in from all over the world and you could see bison, Bighorn Sheep and prairie dogs.

Day 7: Mount Rushmore

It's not every day you get to see the faces of America's presidents peering out from the granite face of Mount Rushmore, so get your camera at the ready. The sculpture features presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln and it's pretty darn huge with 60 ft. high faces, 500 ft. up. Close by you’ll witness another rock-carved epic, the Crazy Horse Memorial. A memory to the famed Lakota Indian war leader, this is an impressive sight not to be missed.

Day 8: Cody

Wild Wyoming is up next as you'll head to Cody in the heart of cowboy country. Embrace the regions cowboy roots, shake a leg and try some two-step as the buckin' bronco rears its massive head! Nothing says Wyoming more than a good dose of rodeo and a Stetson, which is why you'll enjoy an included trip to the Cody Rodeo (June-August departures only).

Day 9-10: Yellowstone National Park

One of the highlights on any trip through Northern USA is definitely exploring the unique landscape of the world's first national park, Yellowstone! This truly is wilderness at its very best, with spouting geysers (including famous Old Faithful), waterfalls and simmering mud pools. Wildlife roams freely around the park, so make sure you keep an eye out for once in a lifetime wildlife spotting. Black Bear, elk, bison, moose and even the elusive wolf can all be seen on a visit to Yellowstone National Park. Forget about traffic jams here, it's all about bison jams! Don't go anywhere without your trusty camera, this park is full of surprises.

Day 11-12: Grand Teton National Park - Jackson

Feel the old frontier spirit alive and kicking in the truly Western town of Jackson, the perfect base for exploring the Grand Teton National Park with its spiky peaks and plentiful wildlife. Why not raft the Snake River rapids, one of America's last great untamed rivers on an optional white water rafting trip, and then herd your posse into the nearest watering hole? Million Dollar Cowboy Bar is a fine tip, with saddles for stools and trophy cow horns above the counter.

Day 13-14: Great Basin Nevada - Lake Tahoe

However you decide to spend your time, make the most of that lovely crystal clear water!

Day 15-16: Yosemite National Park

Following the Sierra Nevada Mountains, you take a scenic drive into the Yosemite National Park region with the chance to explore this extraordinary landscape. Both easy and challenging hikes bring you face-to-face with stunning glacier-carved granite monoliths, deep valleys, Giant Sequoia trees and spectacular waterfalls. Once deep inside Yosemite, keep your eyes peeled for wildlife including Black Bears and coyotes. For a different way to see the park, why not enjoy a float down the Merced River in a rubber ring (seasonal)?

Day 17-18: San Francisco

The Golden Gate Bridge is awaiting your arrival so enjoy a walk across or, better yet, jump on a bike and see the sights on two wheels! Wine and dine at the waterfront which offers super-fresh seafood dishes and don't forget to pay the resident sea lions of Pier 39 a visit. We've included a trip to the incredible offshore prison of Alcatraz, where you can go on a fab audio tour and learn all about the infamous inmates and the failed escape attempts - it’s a real 'must do'. And no trip to San Francisco is complete without a visit to Haight-Ashbury, home of hippy vibes, quirky shops and cafe culture. You'll most definitely leave your heart in San Francisco!

Day 19: California Coast

A drive along the California Coast is what road trip dreams are made of. You won't want to take your eyes off the road as more incredible views wait around every twist and turn. As you’re close to the beach, it would be a shame not to finish your day with a dip in the North Pacific Ocean.

Day 20-21: Santa Barbara - Los Angeles

Enjoy a few hours of beach life in Santa Barbara, a beautiful town surrounded by mountains, rolling valleys and miles of gorgeous beach, before rolling into LA for a free day. Why not hang out at Venice Beach tomorrow - a great place to people watch, sip on a cocktail or simply sunbathe and breathe in the fresh Californian sea breeze.

Day 22-23: San Diego

Head over to Hollywood Boulevard to see the Walk of Fame and get a sweet glimpse of the iconic Hollywood sign. Head south to San Diego for some seriously laid-back vibes and powder white sand beaches. There's loads to keep you busy in this awesome West Coast city. Laze in grassy Balboa Park, or show off your skills by renting some rollerblades or a surfboard. You're in paradise so don your shades and soak up some rays. Later, explore the Gaslamp Quarter and experience the heart of San Diego's nightlife.

Day 24-25: Las Vegas

En route to Las Vegas you'll drive along a section of Historic Route 66, stopping at the town of Seligman, joyfully frozen in time and full of quirky Americana. Grab a root beer and have a look around! Next it’s on to Las Vegas, and there’s nowhere else on earth quite like it! Feel like a celeb on an included party bus and then treat yourself to a show, indulge in an all-you-can-eat buffet, or just watch the amazing crowds and neon signs as the glitzy hotels try to outdo each other with spectacular attractions. If that's not enough, you can always take an optional helicopter flight down The Strip. If you're still left wanting more, head on over to a chapel and get hitched by the one and only Elvis. Don't worry, it's not legally binding, but the folks back home don't know that, so just imagine their surprise!

Day 26: Route 66 - Grand Canyon National Park

Drive along a section of the original Route 66, stopping at the town of Seligman, a town frozen in time where you'll find tons of old Americana. Grab a root beer, have a look around and pick up some souvenirs for the folks back home. Now it's time for the ultimate showstopper, the mighty Grand Canyon! Once you've cast your eyes upon the deep canyon landscape you'll understand why this great natural wonder is loved by locals and tourists alike.

Day 27: Monument Valley

On the road again and off to one of North America's most iconic landscapes, used as the set for countless Western movies. Marvel at the sight of towering buttes and mesas which dominate the awe-inspiring landscape during the day. At night it gets even more incredible; as the sun goes down you’ll swap campfire stories under a starry sky.

Day 28: Santa Fe

Day 29: Lubbock

Welcome to the ‘Lone Star’ state, home to world class barbeque and the armadillo, though sadly no holiday armadillos! Get to grips with Lubbock’s thriving arts scene, visit the West Texas Walk of Fame or catch a flick at the classic Stars and Stripes movie drive in.

Day 30-31: Austin

Austin has exploded as the ‘live music capital of the world’ and you’ll soon see why. Head to South Congress where some of the best street performers can be found, along with lively outdoor cafes and great boutiques. Grab a pair of cowboy boots at Allens Boots and head to the nearest Honky Tonk for a Texas Twostep session. During the day you can find some beautiful areas to relax, including Barton Springs and the trails around Lady Bird Lake, where you can laze around and watch the stand-up paddle boarders. Alternatively settle those food cravings with BBQ, Tex-Mex or food truck infusions. The night comes alive on Sixth Street, littered with bars and party goers. Or head to Rainy street, a quirky imitation of suburbia.

Day 32: Louisiana

Day 35: Memphis

From the iconic White House and incredible monuments to the city's trendy nightspots, the capital has something for everyone. Head to Dupont Circle for its celebrated nightlife or get down to Georgetown for cool bars and eateries.

Day 41: Philadelphia - New York Area

Leaving the capital behind, drive towards Philadelphia where you can visit the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, and then climb the famous steps from the Rocky movies. Before you leave make sure you treat yourself to a tasty Philly cheesesteak lunch - delicious! Head over to the New York area where the tour will end. If you don't want your American adventure to end just yet, don't fear! You're in New York City and there's plenty of things to keep you occupied for at least a couple more days. Splurge along Fifth Ave, hit the top of the Empire State Building, or soak up the trendy, laid-back vibe of Greenwich Village before sadly heading home. This tour ends at our gateway hotel at approximately 17:00 hrs. We recommend booking post-tour accommodation if time allows. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.
